- Reviewing documents to get a better picture of the situation and providing more detailed and direct advice
- Vetting potential tenants to ensure that you both have the best rental relationship
- Preparing and reviewing tenancy agreements and advising on potential concerns for the end of the rental
- Reviewing the Residential Tenancies Act and previous cases to advise you how you case is likely to be determined.
- Ensuring you are familiar with all rules and responsibilities for both tenant or landlord
- Preparing and serving proper notices according to Landlord Tenant Board (LTB) Rules
- Communicating with the other party or the other parties representative
- Organizing documentation and selecting the best ones to prove your case
- Preparing Court documentation for starting and maintaining your Landlord Tenant Board application file OR reviewing documents you have prepared for completeness and applicability to the LTB
- Preparing for and attending the LTB hearings to represent you, OR providing good information for you to attend and advocate for yourself if you desire
- Receipt and payment of your of settlement and/or LTB ordered payments (often, payments must go through a legal trust account)
- Filing LTB orders with the Superior Court to enforce payments, which may include Notices of Garnishment and Writ of Seizure and Sale, as may be required
